Academic publisher Brill, of the Netherlands, has agreed to acquire the assets of German publisher Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht (V&R). V&R is a long-established specialist in theology and history texts with 2020 revenues of €10m. The acquisition will expand Brill’s German language catalogue to 850 titles a year and also adds a stable of 70 journals in a mix of German and English languages. The deal should be earnings accretive from 2023.
