PCH buys Topix

Publishers Clearing House (PCH), of the US, has bought Topix to double its scale in the field of online entertainment and commerce.

Topix is a quiz and slideshow site focussing on celebrity, entertainment and news. The California based tech company has 2.8bn page views per month with 18m monthly unique visitors, spending an average of 13 minutes on the site. Its sites include Stars, Offbeat, Sideline, Parenthood, Pawsome and Local. PCH will use Topix’s tech capability to develop new content for its own properties and will strengthen its own ad sales offer.

The New York-based PCH is best known for its Prize Patrol brand where cameras film surprise cash prize winners on their doorstep.
