Disney sells out of Yes sports

A group of investors has bought Disney’s 80% stake in the YES Network, pay TV service of the New York Yankees baseball, to a group of investors that includes the Yankees, Sinclair Broadcast Group and Amazon and investment companies RedBird Capital, Blackstone and Mubadala Capital.

The YES Network broadcasts games of the New York Yankees and Brooklyn Nets and also owns local TV rights for major league soccer’s New York City FC and the WNBA’s New York Liberty. The company was already part-owned by the Yankees, which had a 20% stake. The deal values the network at $3.47bn.
