Bloomsbury, the listed UK book publisher, has bought US academic publishing company ABC-CLIO for $22.9m. ABC-CLIO was founded in 1955 and is based in Santa Barbara, California. The company had turnover of $15m last year from sales of digital and print reference works and professional development resources to schools and libraries. Its portfolio includes 23k titles across four imprints, supplemented by 32 databases.
