Netflix has acquired the works of Roald Dahl from the author’s family. The deal is thought to be worth several hundred millions of dollars but precise terms have not been disclosed. Netflix intends to develop both animated and live action TV and film to be supplemented by merchandising, events, shows and publishing. The author’s works have already sold over 300m books and been translated into 63 languages. The Roald Dahl Story Company will be an autonomous business unit within Netflix.
