Canal+, the French TV company owned by Vivendi, is to acquire 70% of SPI International, an international TV company with more than 30 channels around the world.
The deal supports the subscriber expansion strategy set by Canal+ which already has 22m subscribers predominantly in Europe, Africa and Asia, with a target of 30m to be reached by 2025.
SPI International will retain its existing structure and management but synergies in international markets are anticipated. Terms were not disclosed and the deal is subject to regulatory approval.
