US catering body buys media

The US trade body the National Restaurant Association has taken a majority share in Winsight Holdings, a media company serving the sector with news, research and events. Terms not disclosed. The two organisations first started partnering in 2018 when Winsight bought the National Restaurant Association Show, the world’s largest annual gathering of foodservice professionals, which is due to return as an in-person event in Chicago in May 2022. The two previous shows had been cancelled due to Covid.

Other Winsight properties include: the events Restaurant Leadership Conference, FSTEC, the Global Restaurant Leadership Conference and Outlook Leadership; market research company Technomic; and B2B media brands Restaurant Business, CSP, Foodservice Director and Winsight Grocery Business. 

The Pamlico private equity firm, which had been a shareholder of Winsight since 2017, has exited the business.
