Nexstar buys BestReviews

Nexstar Media Group is buying BestReviews from Tribune Publishing Company for $160m. BestReviews provides independent product testing and recommendations with a monthly audience of 9m.

Although the company has a profile similar to that of the non-profit “Which?” in the UK, BestReviews monetises its service via revenue sharing with retail partners on sales it generates. The company has 50 retail partners and a library of 40k product reviews. For Nexstar, the deal offers a new revenue stream which it believes it can quickly scale across its existing media business and that the deal will be earnings accretive almost immediately.
