Deep Vellum expands

Texas non-profit Deep Vellum Publishing, a specialist literary publisher, is to buy the assets of Illinois publisher Dalkey Archive Press following the recent death of its founder. Dalkey Archive was established in 1984 and has specialised in translated literature with a catalogue of over 1,000 books from 50 languages including award winning works and authors.

Deep Vellum was founded in 2013 by Will Evans who, on moving to Dallas, realized that “Dallas literary fans and readers had few places they could go to engage in conversation about books.” The upshot was a non-profit independent publishing house and literary arts center in the city centre. In its first 5 years, Deep Vellum published 90 works in translation by international writers and hosted dozens of literary events.
