SA publisher buys Icon Books

South African publisher Jonathan Ball, a subsidiary of Naspers’ Media 24, has acquired the UK non-fiction publishing company Icon Books. Icon was founded in 1991 by owner Peter Pugh who died last year, and the company publishes titles across a range of sectors including science, history, current affairs and psychology. It had revenue of £1.3m in 2019. Jonathan Ball’s own list focusses on South African history, politics and history. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
