Swedish listed Acast, a podcast creator and publisher with a market cap of $2.6bn and revenues of $300m, is to buy podcast data company Podchaser for $35m.
Podchaser was founded in 2016 and holds data on almost 5m podcasts, enabling listeners to find new podcasts and research across platforms through podcast ratings and reviews and allowing advertisers to identify engaged audiences. The two companies will promote open podcasting, hoping to ensure that podcasts are accessible on any platform but Podchaser will retain independent branding.
