Emerald STM sold ‘for £300m’

The UK-based STM group Emerald has been acquired by the Cambridge Information Group for an undisclosed price believed to be some £300m. Full details of the family-owned Emerald’s financials, operations and history were reported two weeks ago in Flashes & Flames. The 51-year-old New York-based CIG is a family-owned investment firm, heavily involved in education, information, the arts and software. Its portfolio includes publishing and academic information provider Bowker (formerly owned by RELX), and the Clarivate data group.
