Candle Media buys ATTN

The Blackstone-backed, LA-based Candle Media is buying ATTN a producer of short-form video news, for a price believed to be $100-150m in a mix of cash and shares.

ATTN was founded by Matthew Segal and Jarrett Moreno in 2014 as a digital brand and had raised $37m in funding. It has created original series for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Twitch, in addition to networks ABC, NBC, CBS, MTV, Freeform and Discovery as well as for Hulu and Apple TV.

Candle was founded last year and has bought Faraway Productions (c$40m), Moonbug Entertainment ($3bn), Hello Sunshine ($900m) and 10% of Westbrook Inc. It is also said to be in talks to acquire NFT company Notables. The company is led by former Disney executives Kevin A. Mayer and Thomas O. Staggs.
