Pearson Plc, the UK listed education company, has bought Mondly, a language learning tool. Mondly facilitates learning in over 40 languages and appears in the top 5 apps by download numbers (Statista) and the company has a virtual reality and augmented offer online. The privately owned Mondly was founded in Romania in 2013 and targets both professional and personal learning demographics.
The deal allows Pearson to offer a full range of learning approaches with the self-study option now running alongside its existing teaching and assessment portfolio. Pearson announced an 18% increase in language learning revenue in the first quarter this year and the company expects the Mondly deal to accelerate growth. Terms not disclosed.
