Stingray buys Calm Radio

Stingray Group Inc, of Canada, has bought the Toronto-based wellness internet radio and app producer Calm Radio. Stingray is an international company covering media, music and tech with more than 1,000 staff. The listed company already owns over 100 radio stations along with TV and B2B interests and reaches 400m users in 160 countries.  Calm Radio has a focus on relaxation and sleep output with 500 free and 1,000 subscription channels allowing users to choose sleep music, stories, meditations and calming sounds. Together, the stations have 1m monthly uniques and 30k subscribers. Calm Radio was founded by composer Eric Harry in 2009. The sector and the company have both seen high levels of growth during the pandemic.
