The Information reports that Axel Springer, owner of Business Insider and Morning Brew, is in talks to acquire the five-year-old (and reportedly profitable) Axios newsletter business which recently held talks with The Athletic
It is unclear how advanced are the talks and what valuation has been discussed. Axios raised $27m in a Series C funding round in December 2019, at a pre-money valuation of $210m, according to Crunchbase.Axios publishes a politics and business news site and also recently launched AxiosHQ, a tool to help companies communicate with employees through newsletters. The company also has a documentary show on HBO.
