Immediate consolidates shows

Immediate Media, the UK’s second largest magazine publisher, has completed the acquisition of River Street Events (which it had acquired 57% of in 2019). It is merging the company with its Upper Street Events to create Immediate Live with the ambition of building back a consumer events portfolio that has been paralysed by the pandemic.

The Burda-owned publisher acquired the exhibition businesses in 2019, adding a live events portfolio, across the key sectors of art and design, craft, cycling, food, gardening, gift and travel, to complement its market-leading print and digital brands. The company makes the point that “Immediate Live brings together over 40 years of specialist event experience, producing some of the UK’s most popular consumer events, including BBC Gardeners’ World Live, Hampton Court Food Festival, The London Art Fair, BBC Good Food Show, Move It, The Festival of Quilts and The Cycle Show, welcoming over 500,000 guests a year”.

As the owner of some of the UK’s major magazine-media brands, including Radio Times, BBC Good Food, BBC Gardeners’ World Magazine, and BBC History Magazine, Immediate claims a global audience of 87m a month and the UK’s largest magazine subscription base of over 1.1m.
