The Global Media Weekly for executives and entrepreneurs

MediaFutures goes TransAtlantic

We’re in the news. Flashes & Flames has teamed up with the UK’s Wessenden Marketing consultancy and Folio, in the US, to launch MediaFutures International 2020.

The survey of media company attitudes, opinions and forecasts builds on the 10-year-old benchmarking study conducted by Wessenden among hundreds of magazine, newspaper, digital and events companies in the UK. Now, that same research will be conducted simultaneously in the US.

MediaFutures has become the definitive measure of the shape and direction of the media business identifying the trends, challenges and opportunities in revenue streams and how organisations are addressing technology and globalisation. It has been carried out since 2009 by Wessenden founder and managing director Jim Bilton, a highly-respected media-marketing consultant.

Bilton said this week: “This is a fantastic step-up for MediaFutures because it will be one of the most comprehensive surveys of the opinion of CEOs of media, marketing and events companies in the UK, Europe and the US. It will be a truly authoritative study at a time when all companies are battling with the post-digital and post-Covid challenges to media strategy. All participating companies will receive summaries of both the UK and US reports when they are published in October this year.”

Colin Morrison said: “We are delighted to have agreed with Folio on this major expansion of MediaFutures, a research study long valued in the UK. The report will be showcased at the Folio Show in New York in October, with a corresponding presentation in London, in Flashes & Flames, and also InPublishing magazine.”

Folio‘s Director of Content Caysey Welton commented: “We are beyond excited to team up with Flashes & Flames and Wessenden on this ambitious research project. The survey data we collect and share will be an invaluable resource to the global community of media leaders, and will provide insights unlike anything we’ve published before.”

Folio has a combined audience of some 700k in publishing and agencies throughout the US. It is part of Access Intelligence LLC which also publishes B2B media and events across healthcare, engineering, and aerospace. It is owned by Jeffrey Stevenson, managing partner of VSS private equity.
