Swedish company Nextory, a book streaming service, has acquired French book streaming company Youboox which gives its subscribers access to 400k books in all formats. Youboox was founded in 2011 by Helen Merillon. Nextory, founded in 2015, has a much larger library of 750k which it offers across multiple European territories including Germany, the Netherlands and Scandinavia.
Nextory plans to become a Europe-wide streaming company, competing directly with Amazon’s Audible. It made an acquisition in Spain last year and the Nextory deal makes France the company’s tenth market.
