Ashcroft buys UK political mags

Political Holdings, a media company owned by UK political influencer Lord (Michael) Ashcroft, is paying the Merit Group (formerly Dods) £4.5m to acquire: Politics Home, magazines for politicians in Westminster (The House), Edinburgh (Holyrood) and Brussels (The Parliament), and also Civil Service World, Training Journal and Public Technology. Political Holdings also owns Conservative Home, Biteback Publishing and Campaigns and Election. Merit said the operations being sold generated revenue of £9.3m and EBITDA of £0.5m in 2021-22. Merit, whose total revenue was £27.4m, will now specialise in business intelligence and research. It has a market cap of £10m.
