TheSkimm, an online media brand with particular appeal to younger women, may be for sale according to Axios. The company has appointed advisers and is seeking interest from consumer companies interested in marketing to their young female demographic as well as from other media players.

TheSkimm was founded in 2012 as a newsletter which it now delivers to 7.5m subscribers. It has previously raised $30m in funding from Google Ventures, Goldman Sachs and others. Potential buyers may include financial services companies or owners of luxury brands seeking to access TheSkimm’s user base.
