Vox Media buys Café Studios

Vox Media, the US publisher of Vox, New York Magazine, Recode and The Verge, has acquired the podcast publisher Café Studios. The company was founded in 2017 by Preet Bharara and brother Vinit Bharara. Terms not disclosed. The podcasts focus on politics, law, policy, business, history and news. They join the existing Vox library of over 200 podcast titles which claim to attract 220m monthly users. Ad revenue from the total US podcast market is expected to exceed $1bn this year for the first time. The deal is Vox Media’s fourth acquisition in the last three years.
