MBO at Active Interest Media

Andrew Clurman, CEO of Boulder, Colorado-based Active Interest Media (AIM), has bought the company, along with other investors, PE company Wind Point Partners. AIM is being acquired by the newly-formed B&W Communications (Betterment & Wonderment Communications LLC). Clurman joined AIM in 2003 from Time Warner where he was SVP of Time4Media.

AIM’s enthusiast brands include: Anglers Journal, Yachts International, Sail, Power & Motoryacht, Yachts International, Soundings, Horticulture, Popular Woodworking and Writers Digest. The company will continue to trade as Active Interest Media with four divisions: the Home Group, Home Arts, Collectibles and Marine Group. It claims to reach 40m readers in 85 countries. Terms not disclosed. 

In March 2017, AIM sold its Yachting Promotions division to Informa for $133m.
