AdWeek, the US-based B2B brand, has bought Social Media Week (SMW) along with its accompanying portfolio of events and streaming property. SMW was founded in 2009 by Toby Daniels and has developed an international presence with conferences in 20 countries. Its 2020 virtual conference is claimed to have attracted 10k attendees. Shamrock Capital acquired AdWeek from Beringer Capital in June, and this is the third acquisition it has funded. Terms not disclosed.
