Zinc funding for TV deals

UK-based documentary producer Zinc Media Group Plc has completed a recent £4m funding round to fuel growth into 2021. It follows a successful £3.5m round in January this year which was said to have funded the launch of a new Branded Content division, the factual entertainment brand Red Sauce and a new post-production facility.

The company announced in September that it was seeking acquisitions.

Zinc has five TV production brands (including Brook Lapping, Blakeway, Ten Alps, and Tern) and makes TV programmes for the BBC, National Geographic, More 4, Smithsonian TV among others. The company expects to further diversify its revenue base including into radio and the US.

In the year to 30 June 2020, Zinc made a loss of £0.8m on revenue of £21.5m, slightly down on the previous year, reportedly due to Covid production delays.
