Cafeyn, a pan-European streaming service, has acquired Blendle, the six-year-old Netherlands-based news platform which had been backed by Axel Springer and the New York Times, with total funding of almost $4m. Cafeyn was established in 2006 and, with Blendle, now claims to host more than 2,500 newspaper and magazine titles with 1.5m users in countries including the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands. Blendle was founded in 2014 and has moved from its early pay-per-read model to subscriptions. It claims 50,000 subscribers. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
