John Elkann, from the Agnelli family, is in talks to buy the Italian newspaper publisher GEDI Gruppo, owner of La Repubblica and La Stampa.
GEDI shares were suspended from trading on the news that Elkann is seeking to purchase a controlling stake from the De Benedetti family through Exor NV, his family holding company.
