Amazon buys games database

Amazon-owned Twitch, a company which live streams video games, has acquired Swedish website Internet Games Database (IGDB) which provides a comprehensive online resource for gamers including information on genre, platforms, member and critic ratings and reviews, storyline, game modes, publisher, release dates and characters for every game.

This supplements the Internet Movie Database (IMDb) which Amazon acquired in 1998. IGDB was established in 2015 and operates with a staff of seven, creating content from community contributions and automation; the website will remain as a standalone property.

Twitch is an eight-year-old live streaming video platform wholly-owned by Amazon.
